Leading Lady Nursing Bras: A Review and Giveaway
Right before Eric was born, Leading Lady (a family owned and operated business dedicated to creating comfortably functional, remarkably affordable, stylish and easy-to-wear bras, camis and sleepwear) asked if I would review one of their nursing bras.
After researching the company and glancing over their site (which I was VERY pleased to see includes a decent list of breastfeeding tips!), I readily agreed to the review. And it wasn’t just because I like to review products that I think might be of use to my readers. It also wasn’t just because I love to help companies who support breastfeeding moms.
I also agreed to the review for selfish reasons.
Because I knew what sorts of nursing bras I had in my closet: Old. Ratty. White. Milk-stained. Clunky. Unsexy.
I was so ready to jump at the chance to try out a bra that wasn’t so…old, ratty, white, milk-stained, clunky, and unsexy.
So what Leading Lady bra did I choose to review?
Yep. I went straight for the black lacy nursing bra.
It should go without saying that I love that I (finally) have a somewhat sexy nursing bra. Heck, I’d settle for non-dowdy, but this one is actually cute and flattering and functional all at the same time.
But you know what else I love?
I’m wearing a bra without an underwire and it actually supports my breasts!!!
I haven’t had a wireless bra since I was, oh, I don’t know, 14 or 15 years old. And that’s because (at least in my experience) one I reached a C cup, it was really difficult to find a non-sports bra that a) had no underwire and b) was still supportive in all the right places.
My cup size while breastfeeding has ranged anywhere from a D to an F. I’m at a DD right now, and my DD Leading Lady bra gives more than adequate support.
But in addition to being supportive, this bra is also comfortable. And really, when you have a newborn, finding anything that’s supportive and comfortable and sexy is downright priceless.
I *heart* this bra.
So is there anything that I don’t like about the Leading Lady bra?
There’s just one thing. And it’s probably a bit indicative of my own deficiencies as a bra-wearer.
The bra itself snaps in the front. This is the only “access to the boobs,” so to speak (i.e. unlike many nursing bras, there aren’t clasps at the top of the cups).
Because of the way the four front clasps are situated (I’ve tried explaining it, but it never quite seems to make sense, so please bear with me), I can nurse on the right side without entirely undoing the bra. But when I nurse on the left side, I have to completely undo the bra, thus forcing me to put all four clasps back together after Eric is done eating.
As I joked with a friend recently, I have no problems breastfeeding in public. I do it all the time! But it is pretty awkward for me to have to snap my entire bra together in public after Eric is done nursing on the left side. Mostly because I look like an fool as I try to pull all four clasps together.
(But will this stop me from wearing this bra? HECK NO! I’m not giving up my non-ratty, wireless, sexy bra just because I might look like an awkward bra-clasper in public!)
But never fear: for those who don’t want front-clasping bras, Leading Lady has plenty of nursing bras that connect in the back and open via a clasp at the top of the cup (i.e. bras that awkward me can use when I know I’ll be nursing in public). In fact, I have my eye on another black, lacy one…and one of the camis…and a leopard print one!
In addition, Leading Lady has a whole line of full-figure (non-nursing) bras that come in a variety of colors and styles.
Pretty sweet, right?
